Insurance, Type by Type

Auto, home, health and life each answer a different question. Here is what I cover when I go through them with you.

What I Go Through With You

Pick the one on your mind. Each starts with the policy you already hold, or with a blank page if you have none yet.

Auto Insurance

Liability, collision and comprehensive are separate promises inside one policy. I show you which one answers which kind of bad day.

  • Liability and what it pays others
  • Collision and comprehensive
  • Protection from uninsured drivers

Home Insurance

A home policy splits into the building, the things inside it and your responsibility to visitors. I take each part in turn.

  • Dwelling and other structures
  • Personal belongings
  • Liability and guest injuries

Health Insurance

Premium, deductible and the yearly ceiling on your costs pull against each other. I explain how the three trade off.

  • Monthly cost against cost at the doctor
  • Networks and referrals
  • Prescription tiers

Life Insurance

Term runs for a set stretch of time and whole life stays for good. I describe what each is built to do for the people you name.

  • Term and whole life
  • Naming beneficiaries
  • Working out how much is enough

Where One Policy Hands Off to Another

Policies are sold one at a time, yet life does not happen that way. I look for the seams between them.

  • The Same Event, Two Policies

A crash can touch the car and the people in it. I show you which policy speaks to which bill, so nothing is assumed.

  • Limits That Lean on Each Other

An umbrella policy sits above auto and home liability. I explain what the lower policies need to carry before it begins.

Limit
The most a policy will pay for one claim or across one policy period.
Exclusion
Something the policy names as not covered, however the damage came about.
Beneficiary
The person or people you name to receive a life insurance payout.
Rider
An add on that widens or adjusts a policy, for an added cost.
